The Internet: A Tool for Healthy and SAFE Aging in the 21st Century
Are you a bit technologically challenged when it comes to computers and the Internet? If so, you are showing your age, and it is time to get with the program.
In this fascinating workshop, Western Carolina University Gerentology professor and computer specialist, Dr. Judy Babb, will share vital information about the Internet and how it can promote healthy aging. She will address common topics such as searching effectively and safely buying on the Internet, determining the most reliable healthy aging websites, including online dating sites, and avoiding becoming a victim of online scams. She will also discuss what you need to know about cookies (not the type you eat), phishing and pharming.
In addition to sharing ways of protecting your computer from viruses and worms and much more, she will answer your many questions. The knowledge you gain from this workshop will help protect you and your computer and will connect you to a whole new, exciting world at the touch of your fingertips!

Workshop Date and Location
The Internet: A Tool for Healthy and SAFE Aging is presented in partnership with Western Carolina University's Great Life Series. The workshop will be held at Hickory Metro Higher Ed Center (HMHEC) on Wednesday, October 8, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. HMHEC is located on the East Campus of Catawba Valley Community College at 2760 US Highway 70 SE, Hickory. The facility is handicap-accessible.

Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your registration on or before October 6, 2008. After October 6, no refunds will be given; however, substitutions are welcome. HMHEC reserves the right to cancel this program in the event of unforeseen circumstances or low enrollment. If a course is cancelled, a full refund of the registration fee will be made.
