The Life Story of Frank W. Abagnale
Once the world's most sought-after confidence man, Frank Abagnale, by the age of 21, had impersonated an international airline pilot, pediatrician, stockbroker, college professor, and even an assistant district attorney. Meanwhile, he passed $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in the United States and 26 other countries.
Abagnale was apprehended by the French police at the age of 21 and served prison time in France, Sweden and the United States. He was released after five years of his 12-year sentence on the condition that he would help the federal government, without remuneration.
In 2002, the world watched Abagnale's life played out on the big screen in Catch Me If You Can, a movie directed by Steven Spielberg. Abagnale was portrayed by actor Leonardo DiCaprio and was chased by actor Tom Hanks. In a website disclaimer, Abagnale comments that the movie exaggerates many details, in true Hollywood style.
The now contrite, mature Abagnale is proud to assist the government, clients and consumers in dealing with issues of crime and fraud.
