In this three-part workshop, you'll learn about many tools that can make your travel experience easier, safer, more efficient, and more economical. You'll also learn a number of valuable tips to assist you with personal health and safety. Each session, you'll be given an opportunity to plan a personal trip, either real or imaginary, using our state-of-the-art computer lab.

Workshop Leaders
Patricia "Patty" Thompson has extensive travel industry experience. In addition to holding a Master's in Tourism Education from George Washington University, she has taught travel industry management at the University of Hawaii. She has worked in travel agencies, hotels, restaurants and the airline industry. Prior to moving to North Carolina, she was an account manager for creating wholesale group tours for travel agencies and customized tours for student travel. Patty has travelled to over 45 countries and currently is an Enrollment Coordinator for Mountain State University in Hickory.
Karen Summey developed a Fortune 500 business travel course and taught corporate employees for several years. She traveled extensively in the United States as a training specialist for Corning Cable Systems and has also visited Canada and Mexico. Karen holds a Master's in Educational Media from Appalachian State University and is currently Program Manager for Prime Life Ed-Ventures at the Appalachian State University Center at Hickory.
Workshop Dates and Location
This workshop will be held on three consecutive days: Tuesday through Thursday, July 20-22, 2010. It begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m. each day. The event will be held at the Appalachian Center at Hickory, located on the East Campus of Catawba Valley Community College, 2760 US Highway 70 SE, behind Northern Tool.

Registration is available to adults of all ages by phone, mail, or online through July 16. (After July 16, please register by phone only.) Cost is only $40 per person, or $35 each for 2 or more registering together. Forms of payment are check, credit card, or PayPal account.
Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your registration on or before July 16, 2010. After July 16, no refunds will be given; however, substitutions are welcome. We reserve the right to cancel this program in the event of unforeseen circumstances or low enrollment. If a course is cancelled, a full refund of the registration fee will be made.
